A moment of brief humor….

“Working for Delaware North was like being in a bad relationship — lots of promises, mixed signals, and me wondering what I did wrong.”

“They say teamwork makes the dream work — I just never realized at Delaware North, the dream was a nightmare.”

“I joined Delaware North to grow my career. Turns out, the only thing that grew was my patience for nonsense.”

My Experience with Delaware North

What began as a straightforward security job with Delaware North turned into an eye-opening experience about how a company truly treats its people behind the scenes. During my time there, I witnessed, and personally experienced, patterns of unfair treatment, inconsistency, and targeting that revealed a culture far different from the image the company promotes publicly.

This website exists to share my story, not out of bitterness (well some), but out of a desire for transparency and accountability. Employees deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, not singled out, dismissed, or silenced when they do their job too much. My goal is to shed light on what really happens inside Delaware North and to give others a voice who may have gone through the same thing but were too afraid to speak up.

Over the past five months, I have done my best to comply with policies, perform my duties, and maintain professionalism despite being accused of unfounded accusations and sustained targeting of myself. It has become apparent to me that there is a deep double standard in the way HR views individual employees. I have been specifically targeted by Human Resources at Delaware North Grand Canyon South Rim and by the Human Resources Manager Niurka Bordoy-Vasquez.

Let me show YOU, any potential employees and former employees, favoritism in action.

1st Statement to Delaware North Grand Canyon South Rim Human Resources

This originated because a Security employee, Andrei “Jan” Sampson who was a giant piece of shit and lied about everything (banging certain girls at DNC, other Security members banging certain girls, being a nurse, etc..) complained that there was too many white people in Security. Additionally, other giant pieces of shit that were employed at the time, cried because they hadn’t experienced before the Security department regularly enforcing the policies of DNC. Working the overnight means you are alone for a majority of the tine and you can’t give any leeway.

I repurposed this and sent to the three CEO’s of Delaware North the day I was terminated; the three brothers, Mr. Jerry Jacobs, Mr. Lou Jacobs, and Mr. Charlie Jacobs; they couldn’t be bothered to respond. If they had fired Niurka Bordoy-Vasquez for her harassment and given me my job back, these skeletons would have stayed in the closet.

Blake Macintyre Nazi Incident

At approximately 2316hrs on 22 Jun 2025, I encountered employees Blake MacIntyre and Eric Gerber inside Trailer 188, despite both individuals being previously informed—on June 19 and again on June 22—that they are not permitted in that area after 10:00 PM, as they both live in Brandt Hall. Upon reminding them of this policy and asking them to leave, MacIntyre became verbally combative and dismissive. During this exchange, MacIntyre referred to me as a “nazi” for enforcing posted rules, stating, “following the rules…like a nazi.”

I found this remark not only deeply offensive but completely inappropriate in any professional setting. Comparing a staff member to a member of a genocidal regime because they are doing their job is unacceptable and crosses a grave line. Such language fosters a hostile work environment and undermines the professional respect we are all expected to maintain.

I spent almost five years in the Marine Corps with three letters of commendation. I’ve also visited a number of labor camps from WWII (Auschwitz & Birkenau, Terezin, Dachau, Langwasser, and Nuremberg); people throw that word “nazi” around too freely in society and it minimizes the atrocities that took place in the Holocaust.

I sent an email to the HR Manager, Niurka Bordoy, regarding this odious and vile exchange. Nothing substantial was done, as Macintyre continued to be employed for months after. Eventually, I sent an email to Mr. Charles Abramo, the Senior Vice President of Human Resources. That email is directly below:

“Mr. Charles Abramo, Senior Vice President, Human Resources,

Sir, I am writing to formally escalate an unresolved complaint regarding an incident on June 23, 2025, during my shift as part of the Security team in Grand Canyon South Rim. As documented in my report and prior communication with HR, I found employees Blake McIntyre and Eric Gerber in Trailer 188, Trailer Village,  after hours, despite clear instructions that they are not permitted there past 10 PM. When I reminded them of this policy and asked them to leave, Mr. McIntyre responded by calling me a “nazi” for enforcing the rules.

This comment is deeply offensive and completely unacceptable in any workplace. It evokes associations with horrific atrocities and is not a term to be used lightly or as an insult against someone simply doing their job. Such language creates a hostile and disrespectful work environment and directly undermines our organizational values and professional standards. Being called a “nazi” is not just some casual insult—it’s a vile slur evoking one of the worst regimes and atrocities in human history.

Given the seriousness of Mr. McIntyre’s conduct—and considering his documented pattern of being argumentative and public drunkenness—I believe the only appropriate and proportionate action is termination of his employment. I am requesting that you review this incident personally and advise me of the steps being taken. I am available to provide any further documentation or details you may require.

Thank you very much for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Security Officer

Grand Canyon/ DNC South Rim”

Mr. Abramo replied with this email below:

“Hi Ben,

Thank you for forwarding on your concerns regarding this matter.

I will have the employee relations (ER) team look into this matter.  The ER team is an objective team that sits outside of the Parks HR structure and will review the matter to ensure it follows our policies and practices. Once they’ve completed their review, they will share their findings with me.

I understand that you have a point of view on what you think should occur in this situation. However, there is a possibility you may disagree with the outcome of the investigation, but I commit to you that the ER team will review it fully and thoroughly.  They will communicate with you once the review is complete.

Thank you and please have a happy and safe 4th of July.”

As I mentioned before, I never heard back and no action was ever taken.

In August 2025, I was called into HR, due to a number of insane and inane allegations. These were found false by HR but I was forced to have to write a statement defending myself. That statement continues from her. I briefly described my typical routine starting on a Security shift, 11pm-7am. This involves driving the guest facing parts of Delaware North, to include CVM, Yavapai Lodge, Yavapai West and East, and Trailer Village. After the front-facing patrols, it includes DNC Warehouse, Apache West, Boulder West, Mohave and Pinon Park. Also includes checking Brandt Hall, closing Trailer 188 at 2am, and performing a firewatch patrol at Brandt Hall, after closing 188. I advised I have worked night shift security for just over 90 days. I preferred the night shift for cooler weather, the quiet atmosphere after 3am, and a plethora of wildlife sightings.

*Regarding flashing lights in windows and waiting outside windows*

I denied ever flashing a light into a room. The first person to bring up windows was Julian Magana. I wrote a report after I caught him in Brandt Hall after 10pm, but it was at that time he claimed that HR was feeding him information and stated HR told him about windows. I denied ever flashing into female rooms. I advised I caught Stephanie Melgoza in the hallway last week while exiting another employee who lives in Trailer Village; she stated she was getting a sweatshirt out of a room but I think she’d actually been in the room hanging out, she just happened to get caught and I just happened to walk down the hallway at the time.

The whole thing with the windows is completely insane. I advised that I drive really slowly and sometimes I make three to four trips around Trailer Village  and I don’t necessarily go the same route because you can cut through on different roads. I advised that I sit coming up the road to V Street in front of 183; I advised that I’ll sit on the other side over where the RVs are; I advised I’ll sit in the pull out by 193. I cannot and could not think of an instance of any female coming out and checking while I was outside the unit. I advised this sounds to be very blunt a bunch of bullshit; people who are mad that they’ve gotten in trouble. I advised that people are not used to security enforcing policies. This causes employees to be resentful and make complaints.

I advised that if I treat people differently then that’s dishonest, if I don’t treat every person exactly the same. I advised I’ve tried to be softer. I advised that when I’m off work I don’t hang out with any employees. I advised the other night the report with TAMYLEM BLACK, I was going to walk away from that and not write it up until QUEON GALLOWAY came out being argumentative and until both females went into the room.

*Regarding the three page letter by Jan Sampson and his false accusations against the security department*

I emphasized treating all individuals equally in the enforcement of DNC policies. I denied hearing or making discriminatory or racist comments among staff. I noted that Jan Sampson had a history of claiming that he hated the security department, that he hated white people, and that there was too many white people in the Security department. I countered his claims of racial bias with the fact that a few security department members are or were Hispanic (Alex Gabaldon, Chris Pecina, Drew Bustillos, Fernando Gallardo). Additionally, Sampson is Filipino. Clearly, there is no discrimination in the hiring or makeup of the Security department.

I denied hearing any comments about J1s or other international employees eating dogs or cats. I denied ever saying or hearing the use of the N* word. I denied hearing any comments about J1s or international employees being attractive or Security staff being interested. I advised I’ve been single for two years and am not remotely interested in dating J1s. These allegations are clearly made up by Sampson in an attempt to discredit the Security department after being separated. I advised I wrote Jan Sampson up for being in Brandt after 10pm, as it would be improper to allow Security staff to ignore DNC policies, while writing up employees from other departments.

*Regarding Shawn Scott and his lies about being naked*

I described the initial encounter with Shawn Scott. On 18 August 2025, I woke up at approximately 1730hrs and went downstairs for a drink. Shawn Scott was in the living room, he introduced himself as Shawn, I stated, “nice to meet you.” During this time I was still groggy because as a disabled veteran, I am prescribed meds to help me sleep. I then returned upstairs. I strongly and forcefully denied being naked during the encounter and expressed offense at repeated questioning on the topic.

It’s disgusting and feels like sexual harassment. I then described the second encounter, which occurred when I came downstairs to go to work, at approximately 2225hrs on 18 August 2025. I detected the scent of weed, Shawn denied smoking weed, then claimed permission to smoke in the car from housing, “she told me I could smoke in the car.” At approximately 1800hrs on 20, August 2025, I woke up and went down to the kitchen. I realized that Shawn had taken his stuff and departed. I was not aware if he was moved to another unit or if he quit without notice.

When he departed, he took an almost brand new 65” TV that was in the other bedroom. That TV did not belong to me, it belonged to Erich, who had been trying to sell it from Pennsylvania, after he was terminated. The TV was left in the bedroom due to the size and for a potential roommate to borrow. Shawn Scott did not ask me if he could take it, and he was never told it was free to take. On 21 August 2025, Alex and Rick returned the tv. Any reasonable person would view the disturbing lies about being naked, as an attempt to get even for the tv.

Let Me Introduce You To Some of the Biggest Pieces of Shit (former and current) at Delaware North

Shawn Scott (Stolen TV)

Shawn Scott (Drug Violation)

At approximately 0205hrs, I returned to Mohave to investigate further, if there was still a discernible usage of marijuana occurring. Upon reaching the vestibule of 1403 and 1402 S Mohave, I again detected the smell of marijuana from the doorway, although it was not as pungent as the first instance. I again contacted S10(Pecina) as a witness. At approximately 0212hrs, S10(Pecina) arrived on scene. S10(Pecina) was also able to detect the scent of marijuana. While we were outside on the entryway, Scott exited the unit and went to his vehicle. When the door to the unit opened, the smell of marijuana was overpowering, from inside and on Scott himself.

Scott continues to be employed; another example of cherry picking what is enforced. (Remember, Grand Canyon National Park is a federal reservation, there is no marijuana allowed, despite Arizona. It doesn’t matter how great your entitlement is).

Some Random Assault Reports ( These are not nearly all):

Here’s a brief history of Delaware North:

Reputation & Reviews – The Problems

While Delaware North has many high-profile operations and some positive review signals, there are numerous complaints and issues raised by employees, seasonal workers, and other observers. I’ll break this down by major themes.

Employee Reviews – Regular & Seasonal Staff

Key Complaints & Patterns

Here are some recurring themes of dissatisfaction:

Reputation Summary

Putting together the above, one could summarise the reputation as follows:

My Take / Advice

For consumers or partners: knowing the reputation may factor in (e.g., if one is thinking of partnership, vendor work, or seasonal staffing), but the company also has strong presence and resources.

If you’re evaluating Delaware North as an employer (especially for hourly, seasonal, or park-based jobs), go in with eyes open: ask very specific questions about housing, scheduling, management support, training, advancement, compensation.

For candidates seeking a long-term career in corporate/hospitality management it may have promise (given its scale and global footprint) — but again check what location/role you’re entering.

Finally…

There are other incidents besides these listed, where employees were treated with obvious favoritism. Fast forward to the last week or two. I initially followed the proper channels by reporting serious concerns about my roommate, Greg Duff, whose behavior created unsanitary, disruptive, and at times hostile living conditions. These issues included repeated hygiene neglect, aggressive door slamming, and turning the heat to extreme levels.

When I raised these concerns, I did so through the appropriate process — in writing — and with the intent of ensuring a safe and respectful living environment for both myself and others. I was called into Housing yesterday and questioned about matters I had already documented, and made to feel as though I was being treated as the problem rather than someone seeking help. After repeated visits to HR/admin during my employment, I was understandably frustrated and felt cornered. My reaction — raising my voice — was not an act of aggression, but an expression of deep stress after perceived targeting. It was a human reaction to feeling unheard and unfairly treated.

I submitted a statement early the morning of 22 October 2025, to Niurka Bordoy and was informed around 1500hrs that same day, that I was terminated. To be terminated due to my frustration from the obvious favoritism, is ignoble and unrighteous.

My own experience there left me feeling targeted and dismissed, and I know I’m probably not the only one who’s felt that way.
